Chapter 35:Weird Campus 4: A Fraud

The hand that appeared in mid-air.

More precisely, a severed arm.

It emerged from the air beside Qi Ye, opening the box under his horrified gaze before vanishing.

Xu Nian’s eyes flashed with regret—she’d reacted half a beat slow, missing the chance to grab it for a closer look.

“What… was that just now…”

Qi Ye, still shaken, looked dazed.

Ran Feng explained, “That’s a monster from the horror rule world—called a horror entity.”

“Definitely horrific. Too horrific.”

Qi Ye shuddered, his 6’2” frame shrinking to 5’7”.

The trio exchanged uneasy glances, fear in their eyes.

They were grateful they’d pushed Qi Ye forward—otherwise, that ghostly hand might’ve targeted them, leaving no escape.

Shen Musi seemed unaffected, as if she hadn’t noticed the sudden arm. Under Xu Nian’s probing gaze, she blinked innocently.

The open black box revealed six neatly packed lunchboxes, a balanced mix of meat and veggies.

This was… school lunch?

The aroma of food wafted through the air.

Suddenly, a loud gulp echoed.

All eyes turned to Qi Ye.

Qi Ye blushed. “W-what? I’m hungry, okay?”

Ran Feng eyed Qi Ye and the boxes. “Maybe you, being so tall, should… skip it?”

“???” Qi Ye stared, incredulous.

“I’ll pass,” Shen Musi said softly.

Xu Nian glanced at her. The girl’s slender frame seemed fragile, like she barely ate. Her gaze caught the tear mole, stirring a faint unease.

“You take mine. I’m not hungry.”

“No way,” Shen Musi said innocently, pouting pitifully, hooking her pinky with Xu Nian’s. “We share.”

Xu Nian had no appetite but agreed. “Fine.”

Xu Nian and Shen Musi took one.

The others each grabbed one, emptying the box.

They scattered to seats to eat. Xu Nian lingered by the box, waiting.

“What’s wrong?”

Shen Musi noticed her staring at the box.

“Nothing. Let’s eat.”

Xu Nian headed to a desk. Regret flickered—she’d missed that hand. Could’ve been worth studying.

Shen Musi pulled out a chair, then one beside her, propping her chin expectantly as Xu Nian approached, smiling sweetly.

Xu Nian sat next to her.

Shen Musi beamed. “Deskmates~”

The playful lilt tugged at Xu Nian’s heart, but she ignored the tickle, opening the box and pushing it toward Shen Musi. “Eat.”

She subtly shifted away.

Shen Musi noticed, her eyes darkening briefly.

The others dug in, the classroom filling with tempting scents.

Yuan Shen pointed to a dish for Qi Dong. “This one’s good.”

Qi Dong tried it, eyes lighting up, nodding.

Qi Ye ate quietly in a corner, grateful for the glance at Xu Nian and Shen Musi’s backs.

Xu Nian suspected the lunchboxes. After the last world, she was wary of food in horror games.

She checked her desk drawer.

Shen Musi picked up chopsticks, offering a bite to Xu Nian’s mouth.

The scent was irresistible, and under those enticing eyes, Xu Nian bit down without thinking.

“Tasty?”

The flavor filled her mouth. She swallowed, then dizziness hit, her body sinking.

Xu Nian pressed her forehead, glancing around—the others had collapsed on their desks.

“You…”

She understood, turning to Shen Musi, who looked flustered amid the fallen.

“Xu Nian, what’s wrong?”

Before blacking out, her vision doubled, catching the worry under Shen Musi’s trembling lashes.

Her eyelids drooped, head falling forward.

A pair of hands caught her gently.

The girl, eyes closed, her soft, pale face rested in the palm, fine fuzz catching the light like a golden angel.

Shen Musi gazed adoringly at the soundly sleeping figure, tapping her delicate nose lightly.

Much cuter asleep.

The group woke, staring blankly at each other.

Xu Nian opened her eyes, immediately scanning for Shen Musi.
