Chapter 4: Luo Lin Has Been Targeted
Over the next three days, Luo Lin completely embraced his new philosophy of life.
The inner courtyard of the Mozart Ducal Manor was filled with an atmosphere of extreme luxury.
“Young Master, is this pressure alright?”
Beside a massive temperature-controlled magical bath, Luo Lin lay comfortably on a soft couch covered with high-grade snow fox fur.
Two beautiful cat-eared maids dressed in revealing outfits poured expensive aromatic oil with exotic floral scents into their palms, warming it before gently massaging Luo Lin’s back.
The soft pads of the maids’ fingers slid along the lines of his spine.
The warmth from the oil instantly seeped deep into his muscles, making him feel so comfortable that even his bones seemed ready to melt.
“Mmm… a little lower. Yeah, right there.”
Luo Lin narrowed his eyes and let out an utterly unrefined groan of satisfaction.
“Corruption… this is too corrupt. So this is the sugar-coated shell of capitalism—ah no, feudal nobility? Then please, let these shells hit even harder!”
Just as Luo Lin was enjoying this heavenly lifestyle, the carved wooden doors of the inner courtyard were suddenly slammed open from outside with a bang.
“Young Master! Young Master! Huge news!”
Accompanied by pig-slaughter-like wailing, a fat man with a round body, tiny green bean eyes, and a perpetually worried expression rolled and crawled his way inside.
The newcomer was the original owner’s personal servant and number one lackey, Ji Boqi Sells, nicknamed “Niu Zi.”
This guy was extremely loyal to Luo Lin, but his brain didn’t seem to function too well.
He always overreacted and had a habit of turning good intentions into disasters.
“Why are you yelling?! Can’t you see Young Master is busy undergoing physical and mental recovery therapy?”
Luo Lin rolled his eyes irritably and waved for the two maids to leave first.
“Go on then. Did the sky collapse, or is the Grand Duke trying to break my legs again?”
“Hehe, neither!”
Niu Zi hurried closer, his green bean eyes shining with an incomparably lewd light.
“Young Master, remember how you showed off your divine might in Vienna Hall three days ago and exposed Saul as a heretic?”
“So what about it?”
Luo Lin lazily rolled over and tossed a peeled Ice Spirit Fruit from the nearby crystal tray into his mouth.
“The Saul family is finished!”
Niu Zi rubbed his hands excitedly.
“Princess Alice moved with lightning speed and directly sent the Inquisition and Royal Knights to raid Count Saul’s estate! Once they investigated, they discovered severe accounting issues and smuggling suspicions connected to one of their cinnabar mine territories!”
Chewing the fruit pulp, Luo Lin raised an eyebrow slightly.
“Their territory got investigated. What does that have to do with the Mozart family?”
“Young Master, you’re confused!”
Niu Zi slapped his thigh anxiously.
“That cinnabar mine has temporarily been taken over by people sent by the Grand Duke! Word from below says the place is loaded with profits! The Grand Duke isn’t in the manor right now, so as the heir, if you don’t go inspect it now and casually grab a little… ahem, pocket money, then when will you?”
Luo Lin had just been about to say that he’d been eating and drinking well these past few days and wasn’t lacking money when Niu Zi lowered his voice and threw out an absolutely fatal temptation.
“More importantly… Young Master, that territory is right beside the Free Trade Zone. The ‘red-light district’ there is famous across the entire continent! I heard a new batch of elven dancers arrived recently. Those figures, those long legs, absolutely incredible! You’ve been bored staying in the manor these past few days, so we can conveniently use the inspection as an excuse to investigate the ‘local conditions’!”
Red-light district.
The moment those three words came out, they were no different from throwing a torch into dry firewood for Luo Lin, who had spent two lifetimes as a lonely virgin dog and died an innocent old virgin.
He immediately sat upright.
The laziness on his face vanished completely, replaced by an almost righteous solemnity.
“Ahem… Niu Zi, what kind of person do you take Young Master for?”
Luo Lin straightened his loose bathrobe with a serious expression.
“As the son of a Grand Duke of the Holy Church State, I’m going there purely to understand the suffering of the common people and criticize such corrupt places! It absolutely has nothing to do with elven dancers!”
Niu Zi instantly understood and immediately bowed flatteringly.
“Right right right! Young Master is righteous and noble! Then when shall we depart to ‘criticize’ them?”
“No time to waste. Prepare the carriage immediately!”
Luo Lin waved grandly, his eyes burning with something known as “a man’s dream.”
Half an hour later, a low-profile yet luxurious black carriage slowly departed from the side gates of the Mozart Ducal Manor and sped toward the territory outside the city.
Inside the spacious carriage, Luo Lin and Niu Zi were enthusiastically discussing how exactly they should “criticize” those sinful entertainment venues.
However, neither of them noticed that the coachman sitting at the front driving seat lowered his hat brim after leaving the city gates.
This was an old coachman who had worked for the Mozart family for three years.
Usually, he appeared honest and taciturn.
But now, hidden by the night and the swaying carriage, one hand steadily held the reins while the other quietly slipped into his coat.
He pulled out a fingernail-sized crystal radiating an eerie purple-black glow.
A faint flow of magic gathered at his rough fingertips and poured into the crystal.
A string of obscure runes flashed across its surface before an extremely weak magical signal was transmitted outward.
“My lord, the target has left the city. Route: southern suburb cinnabar mine.”
A chilling sneer curled onto the coachman’s lips within the shadows.
“Heretic Luo Lin Mozart… did you really think exposing Young Master Saul would leave you unharmed? Tonight, your blood shall calm the wrath of the Demon God of Wrath!”
The luxurious carriage sped through the silent forest road, charging deeper and deeper toward unknown darkness.
On the official road leading toward the southern cinnabar mines of the Holy Church State, a luxurious carriage made entirely from black-gold wood and engraved with the thorn crest of the Mozart family sped forward smoothly and swiftly.
The spacious carriage cabin, large enough to hold nearly ten people, was covered with thick handmade wool carpets.
A constant-temperature magic array maintained the interior at the perfect level of comfort.
“Young Master, try another one of these purple grapes air-shipped from the Elven Forest by dragonhawk.”
A cute cat-eared maid in a maid outfit peeled a crystal-clear fruit with her pale fingers before sweetly feeding it toward Luo Lin’s mouth.
Another rabbit-eared maid knelt on the carpet, skillfully massaging Luo Lin’s calves with just the right amount of force.
Leaning comfortably against the velvet cushions, Luo Lin opened his mouth and swallowed the fruit.
Sweet juice exploded within his mouth.
“Ahahahahahaha—!”
Luo Lin let out an incredibly arrogant marmot scream inside his heart.
This was life!
This was the top-tier treatment a transmigrator deserved!
In his previous life, he had worked like cattle in a company, walking on thin ice every day.
Even while on annual leave, he still had to wake up in the middle of the night to reply to his boss’s messages.
But in this life, such heavenly corruption, decadence, and happiness—
Not only would he have it today, he would have it every single day from now on!
As long as he stayed far away from those destined female protagonists, his happiness would continue multiplying.
Ahahahahahahaha!
As long as he behaved himself, what idiot would come kill him?
Wouldn’t that person just be someone who had eaten too much and had nothing better to do?!
Of course, in order to avoid getting his legs broken by the strict Grand Duke mother at home, Luo Lin had prepared an utterly legitimate and irrefutable excuse for this trip—
Buying a birthday gift for Princess Alice.
Half a month later would be Alice’s eighteenth coming-of-age ceremony.
That cinnabar mine happened to border the Free Trade Zone of the Norton Merchant Republic, which housed the largest underground auction house and treasure pavilion on the continent.
Going there to choose a gift for the future queen was simply a flawless excuse.
“Young Master, this plan of yours is truly farsighted!”
The fat servant Niu Zi leaned closer, squeezing out a knowing perverted grin that every man could understand.
“Using the excuse of buying a gift for the princess, we can naturally spend several days thoroughly investigating the ‘red-light district’ in the Free Trade Zone! For this investigation, this servant has prepared extensively!”
As he spoke, Niu Zi struggled to drag out a huge black suitcase from beneath the seat before proudly patting it.
“What did you pack that needs such a huge case?”
Luo Lin raised an eyebrow.
“We’re going to the red-light district to act like rich masters. Why bring so much luggage?”
“Hehe, Young Master, this is where you don’t understand.”
Niu Zi rubbed his hands together.
With a click, he opened the suitcase locks and dramatically flipped it open.
Luo Lin casually glanced over it.
The mouthful of red wine he had just swallowed nearly sprayed out instantly.
Inside the suitcase were not daily necessities at all.
Instead, it was densely packed with all kinds of women’s clothing that were highly stimulating and severely lacking in fabric!
There were skin-tight black lace camisoles with hollow designs.
Rabbit ears and cat tail accessories.
White thigh-high stockings so thin they were nearly transparent.
There were even several dangerously tailored mutant nurse outfits and nun outfits that didn’t even cover the upper thighs.
“Holy sh*t!”
Luo Lin stared with wide eyes.
As a modern man who had died a virgin in his previous life, how could he possibly have seen such visually explosive scenes before?
“You’re a grown man! Why are you carrying an entire suitcase of fetish outfits?!”
“Young Master, these are all prepared for you!”
Niu Zi proudly patted his chest.
“The red-light district has lots of girls, but their outfit styles are too outdated! These are the latest models that this servant bought at a high price from the black market! Once you take a liking to some elven dancer or succubus lady and have them wear these… that visual experience, that atmosphere, it’ll absolutely make you never want to leave!”
Looking at the suitcase full of lace and stockings, Luo Lin swallowed with difficulty.
This Niu Zi…
He was truly a talent!
Exactly how much beauty in life had the original owner missed out on before?!
“Ahem… utterly immoral! Completely indecent to the eyes!”
Luo Lin righteously scolded him before immediately dragging the suitcase to his feet and stuffing it into his spatial ring.
“I’ll hold onto the suitcase for now. Once we arrive, Young Master must personally conduct a severe criticism and inspection of these corrupt garments!”
“Young Master is wise!”
Niu Zi hurriedly flattered him.
Just as master and servant immersed themselves in endless fantasies about the wonderful nightlife awaiting them over the next few days, the light outside the carriage suddenly dimmed.
Luo Lin turned toward the carriage window.
At some point, the carriage had already entered a dense primeval forest.
The previously bright and sunny sky was completely blocked by towering ancient trees that covered the heavens.
A thick layer of fog gradually spread throughout the surroundings.
