Chapter 48 :Weird Garden 17 Foreign Teacher
The door swung open. Xu Nian’s eyes betrayed eager anticipation mixed with faint unease, meeting a pair of puzzled eyes.
A blonde… man?
Her heart sank.
The blonde, blue-eyed man stared, speaking in halting Chinese, “Student, don’t run around during class.”
Xu Nian was certain she’d seen the Young Lady’s silhouette. How could this be?
She peered past him. The corridor was empty.
Had she imagined it?
Dazed, she turned, only to find Shen Musi guiding her back to their seats.
The blonde man with deep-set eyes took the podium, smiling, and began in English, “In this class, we are going to talk about Newton’s laws…”
Players grimaced. They could manage the introduction, but a physics lecture? Would they even understand?
Xu Nian noticed Shen Musi diligently taking notes. Curious, she leaned over.
The notebook held a lifelike sketch of a girl—long hair, sweet face, quietly listening. It was Xu Nian.
She sighed, a ripple of sweetness tinged with frustration stirring within.
She was almost certain she’d seen the Young Lady’s back. The difference between male and female silhouettes was stark—how could she mistake it?
Discomfort gnawed. Last night’s dream replayed—the Young Lady’s furious eyes ached her heart.
She’d rather the Young Lady punish her now than leave her with just a fleeting shadow.
Was she angry?
Her mind a mess, Xu Nian resolved to shut out everyone and everything.
From now on, she’d lock her heart, becoming a cold clue-hunting machine.
Clearing the game was all that mattered.
Shen Musi, doodling idly, sensed a chill from Xu Nian, her aura colder than usual.
A shiver ran through her. What’s wrong with her?
The professor lectured as if it were a normal physics class.
Just as the players thought they’d finally have a normal lesson, free of supernatural chaos, he announced, “From now on, students can be divided into groups to complete the class homework.”
Bang!
Qi Ye’s desk slammed into another, startling him nearly out of his seat.
Xu Nian and Shen Musi’s desk vibrated. They swiftly slid into the aisles.
Bang!
Their desk fused with the one behind, locking tightly. Had they not moved, they’d be hurt.
Ran Feng, free of Zhang San, dodged easily, sliding his chair aside.
The corpse, caught between desks, stood upright, lifeless eyes eerie, blood splattering the table.
Yuan Shen and Qi Dong weren’t so lucky. Qi Dong’s arm got trapped. Yuan Shen pried the desks apart, freeing her.
Tears streamed down Qi Dong’s face, her arm swollen with deep red marks.
“Why didn’t you warn me?” she snapped, hammering Yuan Shen with her good arm.
His patience snapped. “Enough! Always blaming me?”
Qi Dong, knowing she was wrong, rolled her eyes and shut up.
The professor distributed lab equipment: a slanted wooden board, a small block, and a ruler.
Passing Shen Musi, he lingered, murmuring, “Wow.”
Shen Musi fiddled with the tools, ignoring him.
Once he moved on, she scooted to Xu Nian, offering the equipment with a sweet smile. “Deskmate, I don’t get it. Can you teach me?”
The ruler suddenly floated, gleaming, aiming for Shen Musi’s neck.
Xu Nian grabbed it mid-air, wrestling an invisible force pulling her toward Shen Musi.
She stumbled, falling onto her, the faint scent of her filling her senses. Her heart skipped, warmth melting her, urging her to stay in the embrace.
Fighting the urge, Xu Nian grappled with the air, yanking the ruler free and pulling back.
Settling back, she noticed Shen Musi’s flushed cheeks, eyes closed, lashes trembling, as if expecting something.
Xu Nian’s fist clenched.
She pinched Shen Musi’s cheek hard.
“Ow!” Shen Musi’s eyes snapped open, teary, clutching her face. “That hurt!”
“Let me see.”
Thinking she’d been too rough, Xu Nian lifted her hand. Just a slight redness.
Annoyed, she let go and focused on the experiment, recording data.
“Deskmate~” Shen Musi clung to her again.
Xu Nian ignored her, meticulously noting results.
“Run!”
Yuan Shen and Qi Dong’s experiment was a disaster. An invisible force hurled their tools at them.
They dodged across the room, evading the board and slashing rulers that grazed their skin.
Newton would’ve risen from his grave in fury.
Ran Feng smirked at their plight, unaware of a ruler aiming for his neck.
“Ran Feng!” Qi Ye shouted.
He grabbed at it, the blade piercing his palm.
Pain seared as if it had gone through. He clutched his hand, grimacing.
Xu Nian recorded her final data.
The professor nodded as he passed.
She stopped him. “Is this a public or private school?”
“Private school.”
“Who’s the best student?”
With a thick accent, he said, “Shen Musi.”
Shen Musi listened silently.
“Where is this student now?”
The moment Xu Nian asked, black wisps of aura seeped from the professor.
