Chapter 65: The Noble Squad (Part 3)

“Crap! Can’t dodge!”

Seeing the attack about to slice into me, that was the only thought that flashed through my mind.
Instinctively, I made the safest but most embarrassing move—

I dove straight to the ground!!!

The blood-red slash grazed past my scalp, crashing into the building behind me.
With a deafening boom, a massive crater was blasted into the structure.

The blood clan swordsman froze for a moment, clearly not expecting me to dodge his attack by so decisively throwing myself to the ground.
Since he saw Chriss as his prize, his attack was likely aimed only at me, not intending to kill Chriss along with me.
To be safe, his strike would probably pass at least forty centimeters above her.

All I had to do was duck.

“…I must be cursed! Why did I get mixed up in this mess!”

Having dodged the blood clan swordsman’s attack, a wave of dread washed over me, and I couldn’t help but grumble inwardly—

His attack immediately drew the attention of the noble squad to me.
They were shocked to see I’d slipped over to Chriss’s side without them noticing and was even trying to drag her away.
But regardless, since the blood clan swordsman had attacked me, we were, at the very least, allies.

“You bastard! Your fight’s with us!”

“Hey, miss over there! Please get that lady to safety!”

The warrior wielding a massive shield taunted the blood clan swordsman, slamming his shield toward him with force.
At the same time, the girl with the greatsword shouted to me, intensifying her own attacks on the swordsman.

“You human livestock! How dare you address Viscount Badka like that! Pay for your insolence with your blood!”

Enraged by the insult, the blood clan swordsman erupted, blood-red energy swirling around him as he prepared to take the noble squad seriously.

“…”

I watched silently from the side, deciding that with their attention now focused on each other, it was my chance.
Still lying on the ground, I quietly resumed dragging Chriss’s body, pulling her away from this terrifying battlefield.

Though the blood clan warrior was formidable, the noble squad was decked out in elite gear.
Their families had clearly spared no expense on them.
As long as they dealt with the remaining blood zombies, the five members of the noble squad could focus their strength.
They might not be able to kill the blood clan noble, but they could at least keep themselves safe.

The key was the burly man with the giant shield, who was greatly limiting the blood clan noble’s attacks.
Without him, it wouldn’t be so easy to handle.

But that wasn’t my problem… Right now, just dragging Chriss away was enough for me.

I thought to myself, taking a deep breath and continuing to pull Chriss toward a small shop along the street.

The blood zombies were mostly cleared out, and the blood clan swordsman was tied up with the noble squad.
He had no chance to come after me.
So, with my meager strength, I managed to drag Chriss from the street into an empty restaurant nearby.
